Convert annual salary to hourly rate, monthly, weekly, and daily earnings.
To find your hourly rate from an annual salary, divide your salary by the total number of hours you work in a year. For a standard 40-hour week with no vacation: Annual Salary / 2,080 = Hourly Rate.
For example, a $50,000 salary / 2,080 hours = $24.04 per hour. With 2 weeks unpaid vacation, divide by 2,000 instead: $50,000 / 2,000 = $25.00 per hour.
This is useful when switching from a salaried role to freelancing or contract work, comparing a salary offer against an hourly position, or figuring out your true hourly value including overtime hours.
Many salaried employees work more than 40 hours without extra pay. If you earn $60,000/year but work 50 hours/week, your effective hourly rate drops from $28.85 to $23.08. Always factor in actual hours worked when calculating your real rate.
